Well, the story I heard from one of Wm CC Chen's students is that when Cheng Man Ching was originally making his videos no one could really tell what he was doing, because it was so smooth and minimal. So they asked him to slow it down and make it much more obvious for people who would not be able to see it in person. So he did. And now people think that style he demonstrated in his videos is the real thing. Makes them all laugh. This video is a tutorial, folks, which makes a difference.

@50pushups Yes, it is very underground. There are events around America (top secret of course) were men combine martial arts and fight in a cage with limited rules. They call it MMA. Only they best forms of martial arts survived to evolve with the sport. From my training, i think a power doubleleg takedown followed up with ground and pound and good submission defense will bust his fucking face...

noklarok: I have just reread my original comment again, & I now see why you may have taken offense on behalf of Cheng Man Ching. I may have given the wrong impression. The people telling the story were dedicated lineage students of Cheng Man Ching, admire him & the heritage he shared with Wm CC Chen. I admire & respect his work. The point of their story was simply that his form was so smooth that he had to slow it down for the video. I youtube very late at night & was tired. No dis intended.

I have no idea what you are talking about and I don't think it has much to do with what I said. I greatly admire Chen Man Ching. I admire internal martial arts. I don't come out to youtube to fight with people.

for a start,, cheng man ching liked wearing long garbs to HIDE his hips. there are no vids where you can see his hips. So he didn't mind being secretive.

Also I have met Wolfe Lowenthal, a cheng man ching student. He spent many years studying with him. Do you think he forgot all the lessons he was given?

If anything it is the Chen tai chi that looks bullshit,, no-one keeps their spine upright. they are always tilting with the push.
