I do have something watching me all day: my mind. That's not to say I'm only answerable to myself. I strongly resented when Cher{ilyn Sarkisian} said in a '90s interview that she's only answerable to herself and God. I also have things checking on me periodically: family, neighbors, friends, public servants, colleagues, and other people I do business with. What will {some specific} they think of me? In the way I feel answerable to others, I would hope the feeling's mutual, but I won't demand it.

@Aarownd For the most part, yes...such is true. However, there is not a vast majority that understands science in general and until they find it within themselves to use that waste of grey matter between thier ears...some form of regulation. like 'the Commandments' is needed so they do not inadvertently harm themselves earning the next 'Darwin Award' in the process. I personally could care a less...stupid is as stupid dies - removing genes sponsoring low IQ's is doing humanity a favor...

@mdlittle5466 Ten Commandments are the instruction booklet, life has been solved.

@flamingacdc1 You just demonstrated that there is no objective morality.
if they were raised in an area that said it was okay to kill babies then they would be fine with that.
meh

who cares about who is more moral? there is no objective morality so none of it matters.

there are 2 reasons atheists dont do crime
Jail (we think we live one life then die you dont want to spend that time in jail)
Society (Society made rules to keep it prospering and make sure people want to live their) and to avoid people from injuring others (if i steal a car from my friend and he finds out he will be pissed might just get his buddies and beat the crap out of me)

@BionicDance I realized how that looked after I posted it. I just got home from an eighteen hour shift. I meant to have "an eternal punishment or reward".

Why do we need a punishment or reward for doing the right thing?

@HimesInu Punishment--or the threat of it--is often used to discourage doing the WRONG thing...
