Track No. 13 from their fantastic 2004 Wolf Trap concert. It starts slow 'n easy but culminates in a splendid guitar solo from Tom Johnston.

  • "Clear As The Driven Snow" is one of those songs that unless you were a real Doobies fan, you had virtually no chance of hearing as it rarely if ever got any radio air play, but for my money it is one of their all time bests because it features all of those things they do so well, from great vocal harmonies to some of the best sonic guitar work with a point (vice just noodling to no purpose) that one was ever likely to hear. Great band, great song, great live performace. Thanks for posting.

  • After nearly 40 years, the Doobies are still able to crank it out with so much emotion. So fortunate to have been able to experience it then, as well s now.

  • @desertswo Yeah, those were the days! I was an 18 year old Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton up the road at Oceanside. I saw The Who's Quadraphenia concert at The Forum in LA. Went to concerts every chance I got while in SoCal. The movie "Almost Famous" really resonated with me. And, yes, tickets were much more affordable. Kind of put a damper on current concert going for me.

  • @belairemod55 Apropos of nothing, I believe a lot of people think of "Jesus Is Just Alright" as a Doobie original. It was in fact written by Arthur Reynolds & recorded by his traditional gospel group in '66. I first became aware of it in '69 on the Byrds' Ballad of Easy Rider LP & thought Roger McGuinn wrote it, as he was "born again" right around that time. Regardless, the Doobie's cover is my favorite because of the slowed down, bluesy bridge where Patrick and Tom just blow the doors off!

  • @belairemod55 Cue the Twilight Zone music! I am a native San Diegan & was also at that concert! I don't recall order of songs but that was a time wherein many events are recalled only through a bit of a fog. LOL! Seriously, 1972 was a great year for music in San Diego as The Who, Stones, Yes & Neil Young (with Linda Ronstadt was the opening act backed by 4 guys who would shortly break away to become the Eagles) all came to town, & tickets were still affordable. A great time to be alive!

  • They are so good live...!

  • The Doobie Brothers without Tiran Porter' intriquet bass riffs is like day without sunshine....He is and will always be a Doobie Brother.....hands down!!!

  • So we meet again, 240p.

  • Not only is this one of their best but this is one of the rare live recordings that works on Yottube. Most live stuff is a mess.

this is top drawer Thank you

  • @desertswo

absolutely right: ...to some of the best sonic guitar work with a point (vice just noodling to no purpose) that one was ever likely to hear

  • @rowdymax1 PRS, not Les Paul ;)

  • This song is very close to an 'out-of-body' experience.
