I posted 2 here from the guys from Detroit, The Gaylords. The first is their recording of the classic "Torna 'a Sorrento" and the 2nd is the wonderful "Tarantella Napolitana" from their 1957 Mercury LP "ITALIA!" This record was passed down to me from my grandmother. I apologize for the skip in the "Tarantella" but as you can see this LP endured quite a bit of play in my family. This record is older than I am! If you all enjoy the great italian folk songs, let me know as I have alot more to share. ENJOY!!

  • I'm 73 and have one of the original Gaylord albums. I was hooked on them

when I was still in school. I went to see them in person a couple of times.

They were sooooo good and never got the status they deserved.

  • Dowwnload the audio from this track at tubepull doht cohm.

  • gay lords?

  • Chris aka BrooklynMouseReturns owns this same record player. Even the colours are the same on his! The only problem is that it doesn't have a flipover stylus so if you try to play 78s on it, they will not sound very good and they will be worn out in a shorter time. Is yours from 1975? Cause Chris's is.

  • @humpyfan You're lucky to have all of this wonderful music. Carlo Buti? Connie Francis? Lou Monte? They are some of my favorites.

    Salute.

  • These Two Guys from Detroit grew up in the same Old Italian Eastern Market area as my Dad's family. Same Church as well. First 100% Italian Roman Catholic Church in Detroit. San Francesco at Rivard and Brewster. I was born in 1957, I was baptized at that church. My Dad knew both Ronald L. Fredianelli ( Gaylord ) & Bonaldo Bonaldi ( Holiday ).

I don't know if you grew up here as well, but do you remember Illio Benveunti? He hosted the Italian Hour in Detroit. He had a Fabulous Voice.

  • wheres the skip?

  • There are a few arrangements on my music web site which cite some influences by the Gaylords despite my not being of Italian heritage. "Hey Look Me Over", also available here on youtube frome me, is arranged uptempo. My web site has "O Mari" electronic arrangement with no singing.

  • Sorry no Tino Rossi. I have Lou Monte, Carlo Buti, Mario DaVinci, Connie Francis and The Gaylords to name a few. I also have some italian compilations that feature many different artists.

  • AWESOME!!! Love that Wildcat, too :-) Turna Soriento, one of my all time faves! Bellisimo! Grazie!
