With a world that is reverting back to the basics these series of videos are refreshing little documentaries on every day necessities while living a subsistence lifestyle. Going a day without power is a great idea. There is an event called 'Earth Hour'. People around the world go without power for an hour. The next one is Saturday March 28th, 2009 at 8:30pm. There are tons of people and businesses that participate.

After watching this video on Friday we decided to try it with our sons the next day. It's Winter here(Canada) so I kept the heat on a little.

Friday was the last day for our cable( I cut it off) So it was a perfect time. I thought it was great..I became so aware of how much power I use, even though I try to conserve day to day. My eldest (7) was mad, but got over it. But my youngest (1&1/2) kept crying and pointing to the TV and saying "huh?" LOL. We've decided to try this once a week! Thanks!

Sometimes I like a power cut, especially at night. One night we had a black out, and I just played the piano under candle light for hours! by the end I had a saucer full of melted wax hehe. Reading is just the sort of thing for black outs as well, congrats!

The power went out here the other night at 12 am. It was -35 & probably -50 windchill. I usually sleep with shoulders & one leg out. In night I was uncomfortable by morning it was freezing. My Racing Pigeons are under infrared as they don't set 1st egg & I hope to avert freezing it. They were out & my best pair layed 1st egg! Block heaters out on buses so they would not start. Dive drifted 200 ft long, 3-4 ft deep but tractor went & sat on it in blizzard 3 hrs. Love my Regency stove!
