@Enigmaticmuffin27 Ed did die twice, once by envy and once by the crash, but each time he was just sent to the other side of the gate, the second time being when Al sacrificed himself to do bring him to their side. Afterwards he brought back Al and was sent to the other side of the gate again, which goes into the movie.

@Enigmaticmuffin27 FMA didn't really have a happy ending. The movie ended with Ed and Al being together but they didnt end up with Winry and their friends like they do in this series

The original FMA ended with ed dying in Berlin 1943 in a Zeppelin crash, Al getting his body back and losing his memory. huh. I'm certainly much more content with this (the original FMA was made at the same time the manga was being written and they kinda got ahead of the authors and they made their own storyline. Brotherhood follows the correct storyline and was made later).
