  • This was beautifully done by both, a gorgeous rendition of a much loved song. And the pronounciation not bad either, for the style it is sung in and i think Aled is Welsh? Bravo!

  • I think this was the first time Aled has sung in Maori, as he's bilingual in his native Welsh as well as English.

You have a beautiful language Tihirahi.

  • @lastros88: The language is Maori (aboriginal New Zealander). Search for another video of Hayley Westenra which has subtitles for the translation.

  • to lastros88: The language is Maori, a native dialect of New Zealand. The title means "they are agitated" refering to the waters of the Waiapu, a river in the north island near East Cape. It's a love song dating back to around World War I.

  • @minispike0000 huh?

  • @lastros88 it's in Maori--native language of NZ-where the lovely Hayley is from!! The title means something along the lines of "Come back to me, Love"

  • The language is Maori, the language of the indiginus New Zelanders

Translation of the first part from the CD-cover of Hayley Westenra's CD "Pure":

Pokarekare Ana refers to Stormy Waters.

Stormy are the waters of restless Waiapu

If you cross them, girl they will be calmed

Oh girl, Come back to me, I could die of love for you.

I hope this answers your question?

Kia Ora and Have A Happy Christmas My Friend.

  • The language is Maori. It is a song about forbiden love.

  • It's a Maori song called 'Stormy are the Waters' :)

  • wonderful song!!!!

whats the language of the song?

and what does the title mean?

  • Brilliant singing. I love the dress. She reminds me of Charlotte Church, another talented and wonderful singer!
