This video tells you how to replace the Crown stock fan in a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo with a Fractal 60mm fan. As on my ReadyNAS the fan was quite loud, replacing the fan has made the ReadyNAS almost silent.

In the video I removed the backplate, but later I found out it was just as easy to not remove this, just remove the side plates, and unscrew the old fan and remove it, by sliding it out and then insert the new fan and screw it in place, the 3 pin fan connector is also easy to reach when just removing the side plate.

  • Thank you, great video.

  • Great help - thanks!

  • Thank for this, just what I needed. Though I have one question. Is there anyway for netgear to see you open up the case to? Like void warranty stickers or stuff like that.

My plan is to remove the fan entirely, put a 60 to 80 mm fanadapter sticking out the back, and use a 800 rpm papst cooler insted. I know it won't win a beauticontest, but will be nice and quiet.

    Thank you in advance.
