Photoshop CS3 on Ubuntu

This is a demonstration of running Windows XP and Windows programs under Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.

It works simply using VirtualBox, very easy to setup. All you need is your good old Windows XP CD and whatever Windows applications you want to use. Everything else is pure open-source.

I still don't understand how it works, i.e. running XP under Ubuntu. Whats the point of having Ubuntu. We don't like Windows, b/c it is unstable, but what happens to the whole Linux stability if you run windows on it?!? Someone that can explain that to me, please!

If you use a lot of Windows-only programs, then I do NOT recommend the switch. My situation is that 95% of the time I'm busy surfing, emailing and working with Eclipse, all of which work great under Ubuntu. As for the other 5% - I used to dual-boot in order to play games, but it was quite annoying so gradually I switched to games that work well under Linux, like Call of Duty 4 or WoW. Which leaves Photoshop. VirtualBox is a great way to run it without having to reboot.

Well then you can get Crossover Pro for Ubuntu Linux and run Photoshop purely on Ubuntu's power and control, that's how I have it running and it runs perfectly smoothly and way faster than when I ran it under Windows.
