2SM (along with 2KY) were owned by the Catholic Church. 2SM had a habit of banning songs from airplay. Jimmy Barnes reckons that 2SMs moralising helped to propel Cold Chisel (whose songs were frequently blacklisted).

What a powerhouse of a radio station 2SM was. It was so great because at its peak it was the only station anyone would listen to. I loved it when radio stations would have jingles!! Thanks for posting this.

What a voice...go Marc, wish I could find those 2 doublemint gum radio ads Dragon did in 78. Wow I remember going to all those concerts at Victoria Park and the Opera house, awsome and they were free! such memories.......
