  • Thats scary

  • @treid100182 Regional pilots earn 20k, not main line.

  • it is not even close to being that high.

  • I think I would know more than you considering my dad is a pilot for NW

  • @stejensen...

that's entirely false, and trust me, I do not wish to offend....

You are way off - I know because I was going to be a pilot, until I found out what they earn.

  • @treid100182

That's a regional first officers salary you idiot! These guys are flying for northwest, not mesaba or pinacle or compass...duh!

These guys make close to or up to $200,000 a year...atleast the captain...the first officer probabaly made around $150,000

  • The point is, this sleeping thing goes on more then you think, normaly pilots take turns sleeping. It is just a matter of time that both pilots will find themselves both asleep. That time has unfortunately come. Chris

  • I was a Flight Engineer on a flight out of Miami some years back. We wre well established on our route and I told the Capt. that I was going to take 20 winks, when I woke we were in a 200 to 300' descent (The DC-6 we were in didn't have a working autopilot) at that point I nudged the co-pilot and asked him how his golf game has been (I was very diplomatic), and we recovered, he did tell me his game was a bit down lately, but that probably didn't have anything to do with it, I am sure. Chris

  • Look, using lap tops is all a bull excuse, the fact of the matter is both pilots were asleep. Everything points to sleeping, for example there was no radio contact, no let down, there was no answer on any of the many frequencies they use, why? Simple, they were both asleep, all they are doing is to save as much face as possible and to admit they were asleep would makel them the laughing crew of all the airlines, if not loose there pilots license al together. Chris

  • If they actually made more than $20K annually, we wouldn't have this problem...

...Those asshole CEO's that make millions off each pilot's destitution, should be hanged for their usurpations of power and wealth...

...A PILOT has to go on FOOD STAMPS, and work 3 jobs, just to put FOOD in the mouths of their CHILDREN...

    Wake up, AMERICA...

...you are putting your lives into the hands of someone making less than 20K annually.
