28/Aug/2010. Waltham Forest continuing its shameful exercise of reducing parking availabilty by placing double yellow lines at the corner of local residential side street. Meanwhile their army of Hawkes zoom round on their bikes and lorries on the streets till 10.30 at nights and 7am in the morning looking for vehicles touching dble yellow lines. These lines have severely reduced the parking capability of residents by 4 cars in each road, forcing residents to take a chance on the lines. Waltham Forest have been challenged at PATAS and have backed down on a similar case. You should challenge them too if you live in the borough
@fabstervroom I am not saying there are no issues with authorities and the way they conduct themselves at times. What I am saying, as a overall, is as a society we should follow rules to greater enhance everyone. Anyone, including LBWF, should be held responsible for their actions.

@jononthat Well, the LBWF councils own CCTV Smart cars can often be seen parked on the corner of a junction or within 10m of a set of lights!

PATAS are independent adjudicators and you state the council backed down. In order for you to use PATAS you must be in deadlock with the council which means you have received a parking ticket or have been towed yourself and appealed this to only be rejected. As the council backed down with PATAS then I would like to know the adjudicators final decision after reviewing all the evidence. If this was not an adjudication scheme then the council do not have a legal requirement to listen to PATAS.

I am amazed PATAS have even took on this case. These yellow lines have been placed here because it is against the law to park within 10 metres of a junction or directly opposite a junction. The yellow lines have been placed to help enforce this law and also to improve safety on our roads.
