I planted 2 autumn joy sedums 2 summers ago & the winters where I live frequently get into double digits below zero. They've come back twice now and are a little bigger each time. They're nowhere near as big as the one in this vid but maybe someday (It's probably too cold in my region for them to get quite so big, but they're still beautiful in the fall even at a smaller size). Thanks for the info on pruning, this'll be the first time I've pruned them so maybe they will get even bigger now.

my granny had these plants and i never saw any in bloom till yesterday and i got them at lowes and they are beautiful i knew when i saw there bloom what it was i call her granny my son thinks i am nuts but what do kids know lol
Its a magnificent, informative video. I have just 3 questions:
what becomes of the stubs left after pruning - do they just die away?
What would happen if you didn't chop off the dead stalks?
Can you prune the Sedum at any other time of year, and if so, is the method different?
Thanks!

Hey Simonzon! In answer:
Yes, exactly.
It looks terrible and the new stalks don't look pretty coming up around all that mess.
At another time of year you need to watch out for new growth and not chop anything still green, so no hedgers - you're using hand pruners.
Good luck!
