Plasma TV's sometimes radiate all over the spectrum. One day I picked up a very annoying form of RFI, smack in the middle of the 80m SSB DX window. The RFI was caused by a Samsung plasma TV, model P2 (back in 2005). When close to the TV with a portable receiver, it was noticed that the TV radiated non-wanted signals from LF into VHF spectrum. Waw. The RFI on the soundclip, is recorded first in LSB, then AM mode, at a distance of 800m. I got in touch with Samsung, and after a lengthy process they replaced the P2 with a P3 model. Bad engineering! I got a Samsung LED TV myself, that one is clean.

This sound-only recording was made in 2005. I recently made a video of a RFI-dirty Panasonic Viera plasma TV: RFI caused by a Panasonic Viera plasma TV (part 1)
In this video the TV is turned on and you can hear the RFI pop up on the Yaesu receiver.

A before and after look would have been nice, especially a video of the TV being turned on and off with a receiver on hand. I recognize this sound from my portable shortwave, all over the RF spectrum. Turn off my Samsung plasma, problem gone.
