Falling off while riding bareback

IT'S NOT A WHIP IT'S THE NON-LEATHER REINS! I wasn't abusing him with a crop, he wasn't listening to my legs so i simply used the reins to keep him going, don't over react people. If i was hurting him he would have bucked me off of stopped in his tracks completely.. I've known him for years and he used to ride disabled children for crying out loud. I was riding John Wayne and i hit his wither and fell off. End of story. This was about 3 years ago and im a better rider now and he was old but a really good boy. He was also a retired racehorse, but no matter how hard i squeezed he was stubborn and lazy.. once again it wasn't a whip, it was the end of the reins (which weren't leather).

@mad4ponys13 I was using my legs, he was just a stubborn 23 year old man and didn't like to listen sometimes, especially when i wasn't in a saddle.. This video is about 4 years old now and i've become a much better rider, and he passed away about 2-3 years ago.

Thanks to all of you who have positive comments. And yeah the reason why i fell in front of him is because he was turning and i was trying to save myself from falling off lol. He was my best friend for 6 years, if i didn't feel safe with him then i would have worn a helmet. He used to ride disabled children on him, he's a good boy.

I came on here to view working cowhorse runs and the search eventually directed me to this. I've read a few of the comments below and it's just plain sickening. People today are so rudely opinionated. Lots of people ride in many different forms and have many different beliefs on how to go about it. But what they need to learn now is how people conduct themselves in equine activities is their own business. Unless this girl is coming to you for your own advice about helmets and such then SHUT UP!!

wow people are stupid... he didn't throw her off because of her hitting... if you actually watched the video you'd see that. She pulled him up, and the bumpy trot+turn at the same time got her. He was such a lovely horse and hit the brakes to avoid stepping on her. Grow up people, someonw swatting a 1200+lb horse wont hurt it... she wasn't even wailing on him for god sakes... do you see blood? I dont.

@Sevencoolhorselovers okaay umm do you see how hard she is "hitting him" they are none leather reins , all she is doing is simply moving him on . Pat Parelli uses his reins while ridding , and no he does not "abuse" his animals at all .
