Under city hall I connect with the broad street subway and got on to take a ride.

  • I left Philly 20 years ago, but I still remember all those fascinating hallways in the videos. Not much has changed! I cannot say how many hours I spent riding the subway system, but it is in my blood, and something that will always be with me!

BTW, at 7:00 you can hear the roar of the Market-Frankford Line on the tracks directly above...another vivid memory of City Hall Station that has gone unchanged!

  • @Worldsofwonder2007 This is the very quality about Philly so many love-It's the same no matter how long u stay away. It's been this way since the countries origin's. Glad I was able to wake up a few of those memory cells. We both share that same thing in our blood- I started riding the El & Subways at 15 y/o, alone, as many Philly kids do. Many of us never bother getting cars as a result, its sweet.Spend the $ on other things.

  • SEPTA is going to spend $100 million to "rehabilitate" this station... about time. this city hall station is a disgrace... on the orange line...

  • @timosha21 I hope they respect the historical detail as they rehab it???

  • @KemChronic nyc all day i fucks with philly though

  • @etrax2000 I hear you. But in spite of all this our public Trans System is better than 98% of other USA cities. When in Philly you can get most anywhere without owning a car. Where else can you live like that? All the $ saved from owning a car can go into many other useful places in one's life. Am I right? As far as ageing elements go, what can u do, that’s also our charm. I like being able to see history in the subway's we have-it's kind of cool in a way, don't you think?

  • @timosha21 leaking pipes, again in exactly the same spot.. year after year. some could be called 'OLD FAITHFUL" City hall &Juniper station always leaking 15 years later. it takes you all over the city. if it weren't for the obnoxious people you are forced to ride with, i Would give it high marks and praise for value and convienence and speed, but i get tired of just looking at the same walls and rotting ceilings and rusted pipes, the occasional horrifying smells leaking from god knows where

  • @timosha21 Those confusing mazes at 15th 16th streret, those endless concurses, too many stores squeezed into the corridors between the 15th street and the other City Hall entrance. Are any engineers keeping an eye on all those tunnelings beneath the high rise? I hate to be trapped down here when those over sculptured tunnels cause a land break..

  • @timosha21 Can you not deny or even observe that the Broad St Vine st station with the green tiles is exactly the same as it was fifteen years ago. the North Philly Station looks the same as it did in an old Danny Thomas movie from the 1950's. All they do is stick up some tile, paint it , take months even years to repair the escalator, two years to complete that entrance they have on Lehigh Ave and it still looks a wreck. the only salvation is to build a system 50 feet below the current level

  • @etrax2000 thats a big statement man... but it could possibly be true since nothing has changed for so many years... such a shame though... philly (the city itself) is on the iceberg... it can either go down the drain or into glory... need to fix everything... such a shame (your claim that is) that greed exists among us...

  • @timosha21 there is no way to rehab any of these stations, they continue to steal millions of tax payers money only to replace cracked tile over and over. you see water dripping from the exact same pipe ten years ago as you see now, nothing will change.. they don't want it to. if you fix it, then they won't qualify for federal funds, then they will have nothing to steal.
