Off of "Sojourner", 1974. This is a beautiful record, truly unique. I have long since given up trying to find this album but was able to get a copy on cd. It is criminal that music like this is so hard to find.

  • The Group Of Peace, beautiful.

The sister on vocals, would that be Jean Carne?

  • The singer is Beatrice Parker - glad you enjoyed this.

  • Asante Sana/Shukr/Thanks! This cut is a favorite which I frequently sing or hum because it carried me through some challenges. I lost my orginal LP a few years ago while in Hawaii. This discomfort was also magnified because one of the band members lived next door to me in NY. This is peaceful music, fiery but not weak.

  • 'optimystical' is perfect word-play.

  • Very touching

  • Timeless, unforgettable. My all time favorite, Optimystical, the blend of soprano ax, flute, elec piano, guitar, bass and that beat. Smooth mellow vocals, so Serene, and Uplifting. I wore my LP out.

I searched for the LP after hearing Optimystical on KJLH, KindnessJoyLoveHappiness,Compton in 1974, and played it on the Cal Poly radio station KCPR. flowed with Cannonball and Herb Adderley, Idris Muhamad, Gary Bartz, Norm Connors, Pharoah, Flora P...

  • This is a one of those songs that lifts you & reminds you.

Many thanks, your choice of music is divine.

  • So calm and engaging. I will always be optimystical despite the cynical world we live in.

  • found this today...so stoked!!!

  • Man, you have the best Record Collection. I used to work in Virgin Records Jazz Dept and they kept plating Kenny Gee and David Sandbrn. I wanted to play this and they would go for 'Sales' Great post. Best Jazz site on YT !!!

  • I just discoverd this song after watching a fitness vid clip "Black & Latina Female Athletes". I really like, no, LOVE this song. Where has it been all my life? Not only were those ladies my fitness inspiration, but this song gives my spirit motivation.
