Nothing in America had earned the Adult John McCain's love in the 31 years before he was shot down? Nothing? Not winning WW 2? Not freeing millions of Jews from the Nazi's? Not the fact that we feed and defend the world? Not even when McCain graduated from the United States Naval Academy? Not even McCain's grandfather and father who were Admirals in the United States Navy taught him to love America? Nothing? I certainly don't want this blind pessimist as commander in chief of the USA.

I really didn't love America until I was deprived of her company. Wow, I've always love America. I didn't have to leave America to start loving it. What's wrong with John McCain?

What a dumb fucking cunt, seriously goddamn media, i hate our country, its full of stuck up im better than you people... NOBAMA-what has this bitch done for you lately? i dont wanna hear your shit...

Basically, McCain is saying he was in love with America nearly his entire adult life.
Michelle Obama wasn't proud of America in her adult life until her husband started to win in the presidential campaign.
It's totally different.

Okay Starone, but here's the difference (even now that the election is over):
-Michelle Obama said for the first time she was "proud of her country". Basically she said she was proud of her country because of the support it was giving her husband.
-John McCain said that he didn't love his country until he realized how many more freedoms it gives as compared to other countries. It's not so bad to finally love your country after fighting for it as it is to love it after it supports your spouse

I love this country, and I've NEVER left it. You wrong wingers will fall over dizzy from all the spinning you do. It's BS he had to leave it to appreciate it. He hates America!

that fucking nerd hosting and most people, will never understand what McCain is saying. I'm not voting for him, but I respect him.
-
wellllll i never said that and i completely understand that. i don't favor either of them, just saying it's a stupid accusation.

indeed, unfortunately that is how our media is today. thank you for opening our eyes to how subjective our media is.
-
what he is trying to say is that he took it for granted, just like we all do. We will never truly understand how great this nation is until we experience life without it.
"I didn't REALLY love America until I was deprived of her company."
This makes perfect sense to me and is,in my opinion a very wise thing to say.

pundits could spin that into a negative essily, even if it wasn't intended that way.

God it is amazingly clear that what he meant. Anyone who travels to shit holes in the world comes back looking at a country with new eyes and a new appreciation. it is like saying you didn't know what love is until you met that one person. You may have thought you where in love before but this puts it in a new perspective.

His words can be scrutinized just like Michelle's were. In fact, more so since he's a politician and should be good with words. You can't have it both ways. Michelle's comments were incredibly clear as well when heard in context, and she's not even running. It was cowardly to bash her.
