I tempt fate and consume pure capsaicin crystals (very foolishly...)

A video of myself, consuming pure capsaicin crystals. I recently found another YouTube video with the EXACT same capsaicin and propylene glycol that I ordered... www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzgCrd3vGC4 . It is an irritant for mammals, including humans, and produces a sensation of burning in any tissue with which it comes into contact. Capsaicin and several related compounds are called capsaicinoids and are produced as a secondary metabolite by chili peppers, probably as deterrents against certain herbivores and fungi.[1] Pure capsaicin is a hydrophobic, colorless, odorless, crystalline to waxy compound.

Ok, firstly let me just say I give you major props dude, I just made some capsaicin crystal by ethanol tincture, I wouldn't have a clue on its purity but I'm still to scared to put any on my tongue. You are one hardcore chilli head.

you need to disolve it in alcohol first.

@Chillimanfly Do some research yourself. It is partially able to dissolve in alcohol, but alcohol can alter a lipid's structure. Propylene Glycol would be and is a much better liquid in which to dissolve it. Also, the tongue is more than capable of tasting lipids and fat-soluble substances. Can you taste butter? Olive oil? Vegetable oil? Tallow (animal fat)? Notice a difference? AMAZING!!! And yet you did not have to dissolve those fats/lipids/oils into anything.

And secondly, may I show my respect for your eloquent, level -headed and witty retorts to some of the dunderheaded imbeciles posting comments on this video. I also commend your aptitude and accuracy in stating that capsaicin is best dissolved in propylene glycol, that's what we always use.

Capsaicin is about 16 million Scoville units of heat. If you were actually eating pure capaicin, your flesh would be chemically burned as if you were eating acid. this isnt pure capsaicin

Ted the fire breathing idiot here. Hey if you want to see people consuming capsaicin then check me or Darth Naga out. This guy I believe had the real deal but he did break it down in alcohol. Eating raw capsaicin will not have the desired affect but CAN PUT YOU IN THE E.R.

You need to dissolve the crystals/powder in warm alcohol.
