An unknown middle-aged batter named Roy Hobbs with a mysterious past appears out of nowhere to take a losing 1930s baseball team to the top of the league in this magical sports fantasy. With the aid of a bat cut from a lightning struck tree, Hobbs lives the fame he should have had earlier when, as a rising pitcher, he is inexplicably shot by a young woman.

Wonder if the "wammer" got struck by he's own bat,in the back of the head,at 14:59 ?

Looks like they cut it just before it's gonna hit him at the backside of he's head

Robert Redford delivers an unparalleled performance in this film. It is arguably one of his finest performance as unknown baseball legend Roy Hobbs. Watching this movie always inspires me, even at my age, of my passions in life and my career. Redford certainly is the embodiment of the Roy Hobbs character, to its core. The inspirational fiber of this movie is frightening. Robert Redford was amazing to watch in this film. The film itself is monolithic compared to modern day films.
