This came out when I was very young, like maybe 7. I have tried to sing this in the shower just about much of my life. June was so classy and sassy. This is a haunting piece when you really listen. Deep, sort of reminds of that movie "The Swimmer" with Burt Lancaster. One of the greatest jazz women of her day. I loved her and thanks. :D
In the summer of 57 or 58 ,June showed up inSan Antonio with the Four Freshmen ,Nat Cole and Ted Heath for a historic concert the likes of which I had never seen nor seen since . Spellbinding to say the least, and leaving all of us with fond memories and a yearning for the way things used to be in pop music.
If those of us in our teens in the 50's weren't in love with Joni James we were in love with June Christy...And her music with Stan Kenton was magical...takes me back to the jazz gigs of the greats at the Lighthouse @ Hermosa Beach...We are now in our 70's and still love the music of that era. Wow! can Maynard blow that horn!!!
I love this song, and June Christy. I have some LP's by her - one that includes this song - can't play them because I don't have a turntable right now. Thanks for posting.
The pictures are priceless - a time never to be seen again. If you missed it, then you just missed it.
