This clip is probably one of the most philisophical moments I've ever seen in anime. Hell, in all television.

The main message is as follows: you first must understand death before you can understand true love, because true love is having a revolution in life which requires the death of the past, future, and all thought itself. It's the feeling in which all thoughts are into action and all actions flow from one to another without contradiction, such as sitting and standing. That, being impossible because us humans are made up of the past, only can be achieved with death itself. Confusing eh? Feel free to read it several more times.

This was, of course, a reference to J. Krishnamurti's philosophy in his book, The Flight of the Eagle. Basically, in it he talks about releasing yourself from fear, judgements, etc. I had to do studies about him and I had a really great time reading his book.
You should check him out, too!

You should really watch this anime also. It's funny, smart, and probably one of the most addicting animes out there.

  • You're pretty clearly overthinking this.

Yes, one could infer that what Nozomu is talking about here is understanding death before love. That theory gets shot once you realize that Matoi is a deeply obsessive stalker. Nozomu was trying to get her and her ex to kill themselves. You see, his class is plenty fucked up already, and the last thing he needs is another fucked-up student.

The author of the original manga actually hates it when people look for a deeper meaning in his comic.

  • best of enya lol!!!!

  • what a wonderful teacher! YES! if everyone would take his advice, this world is gonna be a lot more peaceful xDD

  • And neither of then ask why the hell he is just there

  • @Spartan472 yez u r

  • am i the only one that finds it odd that some random guy would sneak into your window just to tell you that you must kill yourself?

  • @ninjaman94 ... Well I'm glad to see that someone else hates it when they look for deeper meaning in their writings. I guess I'm not totally in despair then... And now I am.

  • @noebody878 I was going to say... What is Enya doing in there?? xD

    Imagine: suicide to "Lazy Days"!

  • @ninjaman94 lol "correct" viewpoint. A viewpoint is a viewpoint. There's no absolute truth, only the artists intentions. That doesn't make him right and others wrong. That's also the beauty of art. It's arrogant to be mad at others when they try to find their own truths through your art, as though everyone is suppose to think exactly like you and get it. The manga artist needs a dick in the ear.

  • and so another stalking begins

  • @TheArtHero It doesn't excuse it, no, but again, it doesn't make it correct.

This is one of those shows that you're really not supposed to take seriously.

  • @ninjaman94 And yet, that doesn't excuse the fact that readers and viewers will always try to find solace in something that is supposed to solely entertain. You understand, right? :P
