What a fantastic tune, It's so nostalgic, takes me right back to that era, great times, great music, thank you so much for that

Dear Jimmy the Ferret
Well done, mate. It brought tears to the eyes to hear this again. Mike Raven's Sunday evening show was the best thing I have ever heard on radio and coming across it in 1969 was a moment that changed my life. You can get two Xtra label albums on vinyl with Mike talking between various blus tracks - well worth getting hold of. City Steve

I think that this band was previously the Chris Barber Jazz Band. They were the were the first band I ever saw live. it was at the Ritz Wigan across the road from the Casino, years before the all-nighter sessions. Also on the bill: SOUNDS INCORPORATED with Cilla Black !!

I remember Mike Cotton as support to James Browns first gig at the Walthamstow Granada in the mid 60's - with the Famous Flames (amazing) and of course the wonderful Mike Raven, who turned everyone on to OV, Roy C and even When a Man Loves a Woman..

I still have this track on MGM yellow label from 1968 was always the last track i played when doing disco late 60's/ early 70's

Love this!! The great DJ Dave E always finished with this at the 100 Club! Is is right, soon to be Whitsnake guitarist Mickey Moody was the guitar player here??

Do any of us remember the singer Lucas, and his love of two bottles of red wine before going on stage? And did any of us meet at the Stax/Volt tour date in Birmingham? Singin' "What's my name? Otis!" all over New Street. We were young then. Still are.
Willie Dixon original? I've never hear that before. I think it was written by Curtis Ousley aka King Curtis.

You are quite right ! I should have written Luther Dixon and not Willie. Must have been at the end of a hard day!!! I will change that immediately. Strangely enough, I do recall reading somewhere about the Lonnie Mack being a cover of Willie, so that must have been in my mind. Either way, still a great soul track.

What about the other two great versions - King Curtis and Willie Mitchell. A great song with several great versions.
