you're wright but the whole story changes when you've to manufacturer f.e. one piece every month. the high set up cost you've to pay only once. afterward it's for free - only changing the clamps - the tools stay in the machine (up to 240 tools)

You got it right. This machine is uses to machine hip, dental and also other implants in titanium. It's also used a lot by toolmakers. The machine is very succesfull in those markets.

I wrote 2 5 axis mill/turn postprocessors for UG NX.
(G+L machining centres)
Head bursting but very satisfying.
I have jaw dropping respect for the people that can write dual head posts.
Collision detection must be a nightmare.
Respect.
Also Respect to any tachi postbuilders.
Tachi machines are the nuts.
