Horses Plunge to Death in "Suicide" Race

First of all, horses don't commit suicide.

But they do fracture legs, necks and backs when driven off 120-foot drops in the annual Omak Suicide Race.

Tradition is no excuse either, dog fighting was a tradition and now we know it is a cruel practice. The fact of the matter is, this sort of race is far too dangerous for the horses, who were not fine (notice the several lame horses post race). This is just a panic driven mad-dash with no skill and a lot of whipping. Do something productive in memory of your grandpa and run a race yourself

The vet says they take that first leap and place all their weight on their front legs:  what is the difference between that and a horse coming over a jump? I would stress the slope and the difficulty with balance, and the inherent cruelty about holding such a race! Not to mention how incredibly idiotic......

This is horrible. I didn't know this existed until now. How can these people stand by and watch these horses tumbling down in pain like that. This and Rodeos are so wrong. oh and let me add those stupid Wagon Races too!
