This video is from my new DVD Advanced Photography Fundamentals available at http://www.photomagicsocal.com/DVDSeller.html. It explains the shutter and ISO as collectors of light and explains the power of using them consciously and deliberately.
This video will help open doors in your mind and expand your photography. Enjoy and learn. =o)

  • I have two lightstands and one external flash. I need a hair light because my subjects are not separated from the backdrop. Should I go with a continuous light/softbox or another flash? I like using flash because I can shoot at a higher shutter with a low iso, but I'm still early on so if its best to go with a continuous setup I want to do it now.

    Thanks

  • @unclestuntman I would go with a flash so you can match the intensity of the flashes that you have. Flash can normally push more light than a continuous light. You can go with a softbox with your flash as well. That is what I would do but I do not know your specific situation. Good luck with your decision. Peace

  • I messaged you on facebook cux I needed some help and advice regarding studio lights. But you never replied. =/

  • @666coldblood Sorry bro, I reply as much as I can. Some folks fall through the cracks though. What is your question??

  • @FontanaKnowledge My question was "Should I buy continuous lights with softboxes or strobes with softboxes for photography/video?" buh since u didnt reply .. i went with continuous lights =p .. hope I made the right choice. Thanx for replying tho! cheers

  • @666coldblood The right choice all depends on your use of the lights. There are many things that each type of light are good for. You always have to use what you have to your best ability. What made you decide to go with continuous over strobe??

  • @FontanaKnowledge Thanks for the advice. So a narrow softbox is the best way to go for a hairlight? What do you think about honeycombs or barndoors for a flash ?

  • Do you realize that you just went through Math, Science and History all within 8 min. Great video. Can't be any simple than this. Thank you.

  • @FontanaKnowledge I do videos more if compared to photography. And for videos, continuous lights always helps. I tried some still shots with continuous lights, and they came out pretty good too. + these lights were cheap if compared to strobes or off-camera flash. u can see the shot at flickr.com/eddymansoor. =)
