McLaren Park is one of the largest urban parks in San Francisco, but remains largely undiscovered by residents. Franco Mancini shows the history and highlights of the park. Grapefruit Ed provides the music during Jerry Day at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater.
Originally broadcast as part of "City In Focus" on SFGTV. Produced by Greg Burk, video by Rich Bartlebaugh.
In the nineteen fifties it was undeveloped and i used to walk through it daily going and coming home from school.through the trails to "red rock" road and then down to Luther Burbank Jr. high School. The city didn't want to put any money into it

McLaren is a wonderful & beautiful park indeed. We live just around the corner from it and take advantage of everything they have to offer there, especially their numerous tennis courts, BBQ picnic areas and walking/hiking trails. McLaren is actually SF's 2nd largest park, right after the more well known Golden Gate Park. It's a real hidden gem here in San Francisco for sure! And unlike GGP, parking here is a real breeze also.

Great video but it touches on something that's bothered me for a while. It's hard to get an idea of what's in the park. Maybe it's all the hills. I've lived next to the park for 10 years and I'm still finding new areas. I wish that there was a nice detailed map available, like the ones they have for Golden Gate Park.
