They are not your grandfather's jazz band... Reid Anderson, Ethan Iverson and Dave King form Bad Plus bringing their unique interpretations of your favorite covers, including David bowie's "Life on Mars," Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit," and Blondie's "Heart of Glass." And now they've added vocals with the deep, seductive tones of Wendy Lewis. You'll be able to hear more of this exciting new talent when WXXI presents The Rochester International Jazz Festival 2008. Coming in 2009.

Okay, after knowing of Wendy's work in Rhea Valentine as a rock vocalist, I just checked out The Bad Plus songs with her singing. Incredible still. This woman is so talented and versatile (i.e., covering multiple genres, rock and jazz). Even more, I am very impressed with the humility she shows in this interview. I hope she finally receives the recognition she deserves with this latest release.

It is a great album. I picked up in Spain in November. I didn't know it wasn't released here yet until i was looking to pick it up for a friend. Check it out.
