  • Just doesn't sound right without 'It's more than Password'.

And who's announcing? Certainly not Gene.

  • Bob Hilton is announcing

  • Bob Hilton is the definitive announcer for "Password Plus" as well as the 1982 CBS revival of "Tattletales".

  • R.I.P. Bert Convy

Great Host of Tattletales 1974 to 1978

    and again 1982 to 1984

  • Also, in his book, Peter Marshall said he had an intense dislike of Dan Rowan (of "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In" fame), and recalled that Rowan would have hosted "The Hollywood Squares" if Marshall hadn't taken the gig.

  • I just read that chapter in the book, and it didn't give a reason, but from what I've heard, Peter was po'ed that he was set to host the game show "3rd Degree" that Bert produced, and at the last minute, Bert decided to host the show himself. I always liked Bert myself - at least he didn't have the ego like Bob Barker did, and didn't fire all of the staff on his shows!

  • Interesting. What did he say about Paul Lynde? I read somewhere that Lynde lost his job on Hollywood Squares because he was drunk and or abusive on the set.

  • This episode was on today I believe.

  • It was in Peter Marshall's memoir - If I recall correctly he said it was because Convy was pompous and treated those around him poorly. The other person Marshall disses in his book was Dick Martin (of Laugh In) who he calls a joke thief.

  • Did he say why?

  • Apparently Peter Marshall of Hollywood Squares said that he never met anybody in his showbiz career that he disliked or even truly hated... except for Bert Convy.
