One of the earliest (and my favourite) songs of the 80s DuoTears for Fears from their first album (The Hurting). It is written by Roland Orzabal and sang by Curt Smith, the founders of TFF. Pale Shelter, as most of their earlier songs, were mostly about their childhood and bitter experience thereof.

@1christophercc That beats the shit out of what it makes me think of. I first heard this in a GTA game, so right now I'm trying to shake off memories of running down prostitutes in an SUV.
Nah seriously though, I know what you mean lol. It's crazy how music can do that. There's one song in particular I just wont listen to now, because it makes me think of a girl I loved. Too painful. I think everyone has one of those songs.

Thanks a ton for putting this up! I was 1st year in college when this came out-and unfortunately, it became the theme to the first girl I ever truly loved...Had to go through it, I suppose. Anyhooo, the lyrics, the sentiment of fear and frustration over not being able to "control" the situation (fear of losing her and the way she made me feel) really do nail the feelings I had. Great song, and awesome post! :)
