Jeff Beal received an Emmy award for the theme song for the TV series 'Monk'. And also scored "Ugly Betty", "Carnivale", and "Rome". Appaloosa is directed by the amazing Ed Harris and starring Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen, Jeremy Irons, Renee Zellweger, and Robert Jauregui. Ed Harris also directed and starred in 2000's Pollock. Jeff Beal also scored that one. His score for "Pollock" has been used in trailers for several feature films including "The Terminal", "Intolerable Cruelty" and "Mona Lisa Smile". Ed Harris also sings in this soundtrack, Track 24 and 25. He also wrote track 24, You'll Never Leave My Heart.

  • @jbmaru Its just a trumpet with a harmon mute in. Since it is a musical score for a film it'll be hard to find a genre that matches it exactly, but I'd try latin jazz probably. There is also Western style music (Cowboy songs and such). Also, you can never go wrong with Big Band & Swing. In general though, harmon mutes are used throughout all subgenres of jazz, so just explore and find a style you like! Wikipedia can give you a comprehensive list of jazz subgenres.

  • Sorry for my ignorance, but what's the exact name of the "jazzy trumpet" in "Shootout at Rio Seco"? I like this instrument and would like to find more music where it is used.

  • "Shootout at Rio Seco" is badass.

  • best song in the movie is "scare easy" by tom petty its played right at the start of the credits

  • Check out Parkers new book sequeling the Appaloosa legacy. It's called Brimstone.

  • i don't know the name but it's played during the last duel, at the end

  • I loved this movie and the basis of the last track I'm going to have to get the soundtrack as well:)

  • Wow!
