How is China's Sichuan Province faring one year after last May's devastating earthquake?

In the past weeks there's been an upsurge in reports of violence and intimidation against foreign journalists in Sichuan.

For example, Financial Times newspaper reporter Jamil Anderlini was conducting interviews in the Fuxin area. This is one of the places where corruption was blamed for the collapse of shoddy school buildings, killing dozens of children in the quake.

Anderlini described being physically beaten, followed, and having his video equipment damaged by unknown assailants. And local officials refused to help.

On the website of the Foreign Correspondents Club of China, Anderlini's story appears with those of several other journalists encountering similar incidents while reporting in Sichuan.

  • Aren't you contradicting yourself? By condemning those sites but promoting your own is the direct promotion of cencorship. Are you a communist?

Down with Facebook, youtube, google and myspace, why the hell should we support them with our membership if they censor free speech and stiffle dissent. Stop making them #1 for social and video networks, come help me build our own!!

    Peace
