This is the heaviest song in the Blue Oyster Cult catalog that was written by Joe Bouchard. This version gives it a new twist with guest Ginger St. James, legendary Toronto vocalist, who is about to release her own recording that includes a cover of Hot Rails. Ginger also sings in Albert Bouchard's Outrageous Canadians, a group where Albert performs the deep cuts from the BOC catalog including the rarely heard Imaginos.

Blue Coupe is Dennis Dunaway on bass, Albert Bouchard on drums and Joe Bouchard on lead guitar. This recording was from their August 2009 "Ottawa or Bust" tour which also included Gord Lewis of the punk legends Teenage Head on guest guitar. Enjoy!

Special thanks to Ken Kitt for supplying the video footage. You're the best.

A big thumbs up to Lou Molinaro who produces our Canadian shows. You are THE MAN!

Riding the underground, swimming in sweat
A rumble above and below, hey cop don't you know?
The heat's on alright
The hot summer day didn't quit for the night

1277 express to heaven, speeding along like dynamite
1277 express to heaven, rumbles the steel like a dogfight
You caught me in it's spell
Trying to leave but you know damn well
The heat from below can burn your eyes out

Blackened out eyes, scratched on a wall
Stoned out looks from the crowd, the king will not know
On the wall it was said
The flash of his cards was sprayed with red

1277 express to heaven, speeding along like dynamite
1277 express to heaven, rumbles the steel like a dogfight
You caught me in it's spell
Trying to leave but you know damn well
The heat from below can burn your eyes out

1277 Express Tooooooo. . . .
1277 Express Tooooooo. . . . (cho.)

  • F# great rendition of hot rails to hell...really glad I bumped into this

  • WOW! OMFG! I've been a HUGE B.O.C. fan for many years, I've seen 'em 5 times live,

but sadly not w/ the Dynamic Duo the Bouchard bros.! :) And as a matter of fact, Hot Rails To Hell has ALWAYS been my all time fave song of Joey's (next to Fire Of Unknown Origin's:"Vengeance:The Pact") \m/ Joey gave me goosebumps hearing him

do the BADASS outro, the way HE can only play it!!! \m/ Great cover! Love the female singer! But I've LOVED female singers for man years too! :)

  • why wont they say damn

  • they have harder songs

  • I swear I'm hearing a second guitar, but where is it?

  • Great Cover of a great song! Very brilliant.

  • Kick ass. I lovin' the female vocalist.

  • You actually do this better than the current version of BOC. You just need to the get the guitar more room to run and jump.

  • Killer cover!

  • great vocals, love it, very captivating

just ordered Imaginos myself, Secret Treaties is my favorite, no, On Your feet or ON YOUR KNEES, no, shit I love them all, but Hot Rails to Hell is in a class by itself
