This is a visual interpretation of a piece for bass flute composed by Alba Potes entitled, "Traces/Homage to Bach." The video," Traces: A Meditation on Impermanence", is an evocative and subtle series of images that amplify the idea of the original intention of the composition, the idea of impermanence and the traces that are left behind.

  • There is always a great deal of irony involved when artists create pieces based on the impermanence theme in that art itself is in its essence an attempt to overcome impermanence by creating something that will transcend time and its quality of the rise and fall of all things. Joe's video edititng skills are evident as is his sensitivity to and development of the core thematic material inherent in Alba's very skillfully created music. A dark but moving piece. Love the wind imagery. Joz
