I don't have an official answer. I suppose you could 'modernize' it if that makes it easier to play. something nice too about the traditional design and sound. up to you!

@hardcorechicano both could be right I suppose. I found the sound and spelling of many instruments' names in the philippines varied from region to region.

The closest I've seen to 'ensemble' has been two people playing at a time. Some examples: Both on bass gongs. Or one on tsinelas, the other on hegolung. Or one on drum, the other on kluntang (kulintang). I have some clips of dancing with music and some of music solos - e.g. kumbing (kubing) - which I'll try to get up at some point. Thanks.
