Peter Wallerstein of Marine Mammal Rescue just brought me this sick baby raccoon. Baby has not eaten in at least five days. Has not had fluids in at least two days. I fear distemper so he's in quarantine. I gave him fluids and will give more in a bit. He is moaning which means he feels terrible. I am a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. He will be released back to the wild if/when able. Mary Cummins, Animal Advocates, http://www.animaladvocates.us UPDATE: After he got warm, hydrated and started eating on her own, signs of distemper came back. Her eyes closed, she acted drunk, would not eat, I tube fed her again. Then she went downhill and died :-(

  • Where do you dispose of the dead animals? I recon there are guidelines for that, especially when an animal passed away from an infectious disease.

  • @janeyanna They must be disposed of legally. I take them to the animal shelter. D&D disposal picks them up from there.

  • Dehydration, emaciation, see the spikey fur? Eyes are dry, one is glued shut, not very reactive, he's moaning. This could also just be extreme dehydration. I'll know in 24 hours or so. For now he's in quarantine in my laundry area.

  • Awwwwww

  • I think its nice that you take care of animals, but hopefully you dont release the raccoons after they have been rehabilitated. Theres way too many and there population is bad enough as it is.

  • you are an amazing person i hope to be doing wat you are doing in some part of my life

  • can't u block trolls from posting on your videos? i would love to do what u do, but i get way to attached to animals, i would just get too depressed everytime an animal died, or was hurt. which is why i never became a vet, or animal police officer.

  • poor raccoon.

not many people could take the sadness that you see everyday.

  • how did he get sick?
