@introvertebrate It looks like Rick is guessing that they are consuming 1 watt. The LED power consumption can't be compared to the spec sheet for the part which I assume gives you the typical DC power consumption for normal operation. They are only conducting during one-half of the AC output cycle and they are non-linear devices. They are notoriously difficult to for calculating their power consumption.

I hear the comutator is going to be added to the kit and sold as an extra, presumably with a cap and any other necessary parts and inctructions. At the moment the generator coil just lights the LEDs.

doh... just realized he said the LEDs are 1 watt! Why didn't I catch that the first time round!???

This is a brilliant demonstration of what the SSG can do, and using the LEDs is genius!
I'd love to see the scope shot across the primary coil ;)

Nice to see a SSG monope and magneto at the same time for producing electricity. My question, Rick is that. In your old self runner you used a commutator for utilizing the top energizer coil pulse. In this setup you do not use. Do you? Please explain, how this collection coil works in the new setup. few words.

Great work man!! Finally!! we needed one of the big boys to make it into a kit, the first thing i am gonna do is run it through a water fuel cell, i wish John would run one with that big monpole, there have already been encouraging tests with the solid state as you know, you could probably get some free HHO from that kit. Thanks for making this one Rick
