  • The reviewer (me) tried several times to get the buttons to rotate the screen to the secondary portrait and landscape modes. Using the built-in software, it was not possible. I understand that it is possible with third-party utilities, but for the purposes of the review, I wanted to use the software that ships on the unit.

  • *sighs* The Official Issue Tablet for Stargate Command. Released years before the iPad, it's even been to another galaxy.

  • @rasteely Since the overheating issues of the LS800 motion have put fans in all computers.

  • can the screen be used as a second monitor?

for example connecting it to the pc and using it like a wacom cintiq

  • I had the LS800 (which worked really well) but it liked to overheat a lot. Does the LE1700 get real hot to? Did you use it long enough to notice?

  • @bulletproofKevlar you're talking about the motion LS 800 right ?

  • nice review my problem with it is it seems rather big if they can condense this down it would be the ipad kiler for sure

  • FYI, If you have one of these computers look into a Runcore Pro IV 1.8" Zif Solid State Drive it will increase performance 5-40X guaranteed.

  • The reason it doesn't rotate all four directions by default is because the antenna array for wifi are aimed toward the side it won't rotate. For the betterment of your reproduction ability and the longevity of life in general Motion thought it was best to not allow the screen to rotate by defualt to that position but leave the 35watts of radiation towards ... you ... an option that you would have to work for.

  • Decent review although it doesn't have a Firewire Port - It's actually a USB power port for an external DVD/Burner.

  • Ah. Your review tablet was not working properly. I have an LE1600 tablet; it's the predecessor to the LE 1700. It's pretty much the identical unit without the CPU, graphics, and display upgrades. The screen rotation is a standard part of the tablet; you can do it with the Motion Dashboard, the Intel graphics drivers, or Vista's Windows Mobility Center. Sorry if I was quick to strike, but it definitely isn't anything that requires third party support. :)

    - Happy LE1600TS Owner

  • Correction: This is the replacement for the LE1600, which has a dedicated screen rotation button to rotate it to any one of the 4 sides. This unit wouldn't be any different. Guess the reviewer didn't bother to actually read what those buttons do. :)
