I've never heard a plumber recommend caulking around the base before; most tell you specifically not to do it, because if you have a leak you won't see it. Just fyi.

My wife started to puke when he started scraping the wax ring from the flange.

Just replaced a cracked toilet...appreciate the info and demo - definitely not as difficult as I thought it would be...thank you!

i wonder if he's every had black caulk in his mouth?
-
he really likes white caulk.

If we argh to believe him when he says, "You arn't limited to traditional white," then why were only white toilets shown? I'm about to go to Lowe's & find out if he's as full of shit as my new toilet will be. He also mentioned that new models were harder to clog. If so, then why does my 30-40 year old crapper have more bends near the base than most of the 1s shown?!?

thanks for this .... i'm now confident i'm ready to change out a toilet @ home. wish me luck!

I dunno ... but I'm thinking the very same thing.

Why would he be removing water from the bowl if the water was turned off and he flushed it? All the water would be gone! Wet vac is a good idea....the next time I have to do any toilet repairs I will remember that! Thanks for the idea.
How in the fuck did I end up watching this?
