I found a finch nest in my hanging fern. I noticed 3 eggs about 2 weeks ago. Last week 1 egg hatched. Today there is only one unhatched egg, no shell pieces of the other eggs & no baby bird. Is it possible the baby has left the nest already?

Out of about 5 years of owning my Aviary with Zebra Finches and Bengalese Finches, I've only ever seen 3 chicks actually hatching out of my many chicks that I've had. It's quite difficult to be there at the right time to see the hatching.

The nest was at the top of a trellis next to our garage. We'd been looking at the eggs each day to see when they'd hatch. We got it just at the right moment.
