Does anyone from the 1950-60 crossings or later who remember the "below the decks" activities.. I was taken below for special treatment - and I was a brand new officer..was it only for new officers on your ship?

I crossed during the early 60's and it was really more like hazing than this and there were even some additional below the decks special events for some of the guys.(.there were no women aboard in those days)..and what went on below was a lot more 1950's,60's fraternity hazing type stuff...

I spent my last 11 months in the Navy aboard the USS America in 1994.
I was on this cruise but I was already a shellback.
I spent 3 years on the USS Saratoga too.
You don't realize how much you miss these days until there gone for good.

@dropemnow We had an instruction 2 inches thick on what we could and could not do. It was still a good experience and provided some good camaraderie. I would not do it today knowing that sodomites are allowed to serve.
