Part 3 of 6 of a Fantastic Rockabilly documentary from 1981 produced by Janet Street Porter with Danny Baker narrating. Part of a series of 20th Century Box programmes on youth sub cultures with some great footage which really captures the spirit of the London Rockabilly scene at this time. Would appreciate your comments and rating please.

  • Was thay DJ Jay Strongman in the shop?

  • Yes that was Jay Strongman at Ken Market at his shop ROCK-A-CHA - there is a potted history on website in his name if you Google.

We used to go to Jay's club the Dirtbox in the early 80's which was an illegal early 'Rave' held in various warehouse and studios locations. Pubs shut at 11 then so it was fantastic to go somewhere without those restrictions!

  • Haha I used to get loads of gear from Flip on Curtain St (Rd) near Liverpool Street. Great days and this brings back loads of memories thanks xx

  • Yes Curtain Road - The Flip Warehouse where I used to work. It was great being a Rockabilly and able to get first choice on the vintage clothes, Shoreditch was a bit different in those days! Note the graffiti on the wall 'this is hell'! Thanks for positive comments.
