Russell did not mean for us to stand by as racists, homophobes, and all around horrible people spew their hatred. I accept their right to speak but I counter it with my right to mock and ridicule the sad and pathetic person that they really are. I can do this without violence and so conform to Russell's view of tolerance.

is not resistence to their hatred if not the same but very similar to hatred itself? When he says we have to learn to tolerate eachother, does not their comments count as part of that whole?
