Wow! I didn't realize that John Carl Buechler did the FX for this! That explains why they looked so cool. That guy's good! I remember reading an interview with Kane Hodder before this came out where he was talking about branching out his acting skills. What the hell?! He went back to playing a guy with a mask a la heavy face make-up! Don't get me wrong, he seems like a cool guy from everything I've seen and read, but that killed me. He did have the Jason moves down though. No arguing that.

Yeah, Tom Savini's stuff is always very realistic and the "chop top" as it's called [the womans head getting tore apart] was pretty impressive. Almost looked like something he would have done. What doesn't look like Savini however was all the misty blood spray. So Forest and I were a little confused as to who did all the special effects. John Carl Buechler did a great job.

@SLAUGHTERFILM - LMAO at tom savini being considered realistic or medically accurate. savini is more over-celebrated than any other makeup fx artist alive today. he was okay on a shoestring budget making above marginally average effects, but c'mon now. seriously.

savini was horribly outmoded even back in the day. a classic case of being in the right place at the right time - that's it.

also, he did do the fx for scavolini's nightmare - fuck him for saying he didn't.

AVOID THIS PIECE OF SHIT AT ALL COSTS. it's not 'retro' or 'fun' it's just dogshit. I loved the original Hatchet - more so for it's potential than the end-result. Sadly, this movie obliterated all benefit of doubt - adam green is a H-A-C-K. Special FX are terrible in this movie whereas they were great in the first. Acting is even more atrocious (danielle harris is not a lead actress) in this film - at least Joel Moore was semi-believable in the first. Hatchet 2 just sucks.
