New moon would only be visible during day time since the Moon would need to be nearly between the Earth and Sun. So it would be invisible to people anywhere on Earth's shadow side (below their horizon). :D 哈哈哈
Ah, great catch! But I think its just a limit of their tech. It was a physical model it looks like. They probably tried putting an 'earth' in, but it probably didn't look right due to no light skattering thru no 'atmosphere' of the earth. Plus wires & other supports throw shadows too. So looks like they just used a colored light, but showing the offset of the camera as a slight shadow that shouldn't have been there.(the camera would have to be offset to not throw its OWN shadow on the moon! :-)
