Yes, imagine having those cellists play the opening of Cavaradossi's aria, "E lucevan le stelle," in the last act of Tosca. I've had cello quartets that made me want to wince onstage, and once I actually turned away from the audience to hide such a reaction to what was coming at me from the pit. This is heavenly...

i think this orchestra was beyond human's ability, perhaps at an alien level.
Perhaps we don't even have a word to describe how perfect this orchestra was.. I'm unfortunate that I wasn't born at this time period to watch in real concert.......
can anyone temme who's that cellist i mean the one who plays the master role of cello here ......

Ottomar Borwitzky, born in 1930 in Hamburg; studied with Bernhard Günther, Arthur Troester, and Paul Grümmer. First principal cellist with the Berlin Philharmonic 1956-1993.
