Ifor talking about whether one should play with the bell of the horn on or off the knee.

About this video - there were done rather quickly for various reasons and it's better for me to just get them posted here rather than try to tart them up endlessly - they were made quite a while ago before HD cameras and progressive video was affordable and way before I knew what I know now about video making....

  • I learned to play off the knee after taking lessons from Dr. Campbell of Michigan State University during a summer band camp and felt it was one of the best tips ever.

I also wanted to add that I had the pleasure of hearing Ifor play at a "Horn Fandango" where he played a Cherubini piece that he called "An old drunken sailor". He had us all laughing with the way he played that piece and I've never forgotten how entertaining Ifor was that day. I've nothing but the greatest respect for him!

  • I love these videos, they're VERY helpful since I don't have a french horn teacher =p

    Thanks Ifor!!
