  • A containers' strength is on the ends watch where the small holes are on a container these holes are solid steel the container is made from tubular or boxed steel then the walls are of 20 guage steel the steel is originally chosen for durability to protect contents in transit in harsh enviroments you can remove the walls and there will be a strong box left. Yo ucan stack containers less high loaded and higher empty i think 6 is recomended empty. google containers construction to get a grip.

  • So I can take off the roof and floor, stack two or three and get high ceilings?

  • If you are considering modular or prefab home, building with recycled shipping containers is worth taking a look at.

Good resource is the Residential Shipping Container Primer website. A SHOWCASE OF SHIPPING CONTAINER HOMES AND BUILDINGDS, AND A DO IT YOURSELF (DIY) REFERENCE FOR CONVERTING RECYCLED INTERMODAL CARGO SHIPPING CONTAINERS INTO BUILDINGS AND? ARCHITECTURE.

Lots of great example buildings, details, facts, and links to other articles...

  • Can we use these containers to build house in CA. is there any building code for these houses

  • @Kriswixx They're cheap. 1500.00 to 3000.00. You could buy 2 40 footers, have them renovated to your personal standards and delivered and set up for about 20,000.00. I am designing my own with 7 of them. 2 20 footers and 5 40 footers. 2 levels will be underground, and off the grid.

  • I think the company has a great idea.

  • @react1200 taking the roof and floor off?? what would keep the unit together. Just put steel corogated sheets up instead?? ;)

  • I have probably been to this place when I worked in the harbors of LA LB SP etc. I was a driver for PCL pacific coast lines. We would drag a chasis out go snatch a can get it loaded roll it back. The best day I had running there was 13 cans I hooked up to that many and transported them on the streets either in or out the harbour. I was paid by the hour $10. Not great pay but it was the best I could get at the time. They have streamlined the process with containers no as many problems this way.

  • how much is a 20 footer? a 40 footer? standard?

  • I could use 12-16 of the 10 footers for a tower project :P
