Here's a quick video I put together of my stock 2008 Mustang V6 stock exhaust swap for a single GT takeoff exhaust. Filmed with "Dolby Digital Stereo Creator" camera, so audio should be pretty true.

At this point, after long term testing, I would recommend the gt takeoff if you want something better than stock, and not superloud.

  • is the GT muffler better than flowmaster 50series?

  • @nivragni

I can't say for sure. I'lve heard some flowmasters on mustangs and they have a higher sound than this does, and louder as well. Better? Well that depends on what you prefer.

  • gotta give you huge props on this vid! it was great help!

but i still have a question... since almost all of my driving is done on the freeway/highway i'm really concerned about drone...

im pretty sure it is but... is this exhaust, for the most part, drone-free?

    thanks for the help!

  • Glad it helped! I dont't have the single gt takeoff anymore (went with the frpp kit now), but I dont remember any drone at higher speeds. It always sounded nice on acceleration and really quieted down, almost to stock exhaust level, when driving at a constant speed.

  • wow thts awsome. can i ride in ur car plz?

  • thanks! Dual exhaust doesnt really make it too much louder. I really liked the single GT takeoff, but a dual set for 375 is hard to beat! Can't go wrong either way! good luck

  • Thumbs up for not revving it to 5k like a ricer.

  • @jehromee if you are talking about the stock exhaust there is no drone at all. all you hear is the wind and road.

  • Hi aboyandastang, I was wanting to do this for my Mustang, but I have a few quick questions for you. Does the direct swap require any welding, and do you notice any dropoff in gas mileage? Thank you.

  • ya, its the galpin, i'm waiting on a reply from him, thanks for the help!

  • as long as they come from a 2005 to 2008 mustang gt, the right side muffler will bolt right onto the 05-08 v6. I believe the actual part # is FR3-8000-05AA. If the ebay one your looking at is the galpin ford listing that one should work. email them and double check

  • alright, i found one on ebay, do you know the part # for your muffler? im looking at one with the part # 4R3Z-5230-RM but it doesn't specifically say GT muffler, just 4.6L v8 muffler
