Phrenology is the science which studies the relationships between a person's character and the morphology of the skull. It is a very ancient object of study. The first philosopher to locate mental faculties in the head was in fact Aristoteles.

Several typologies have been defined, linking physionomy with character. The study of the face, physiognomony, has been particularly studied by the 18th century Swiss author Lavater.

  • Phrenology is fascinating. I normally like reading faces, the skull shows a similar pattern. Hands, the bodyshape and ears do so too.

  • can i get a website that explains this?

  • Yeah but I think the Nazis got rid of people with superior skulls - Almost like they wanted to create a race that could be more easily brainwashed.

  • Phrenology was considered racist i beleive because it stated that non-white races had inferior skulls. the nazis i believe incorporated some of this into their aryan superiority eugenics studies.
